Jordan Simon
earned himself a few more knocks after fans accused him of 'miming' through his
performance at Kme’s at Gateshead arena, England on Saturday night.
The
22-year-old's apparent lip syncing left his listeners disappointed and upset,
and taking to twitter to vent their outrage.
On Saturday night audience was outraged by the much
anticipated performance by Jordan Simon. He started off behind a screen as a bright
light show happened right before our eyes, but of course the audience could not
even see the singer’s face, which only help fuel the lip-syncing rumours. About
halfway through the song, the screen lifted up, and Jordan came
front-and-centre showing off his dance moves. Eventually he segued into “Walkaway”
soon after G-Easy took to the stage spitting out the tunes. But while his performance ignited a crazy
reaction from his live audience, fans at home were less than impressed. Fans
cheered and waited all night as he was last in the line-up after Sally Hasley. As
he was performing his hit single he went through the rhythms in a low-key duet
G-Easy and was said to have no chemistry or engagement to the rapper during the
performance. Fans cheered and sang along until realising the backing track
playing with his voice and the movement of his mouth was not in time with the
words. “Certain things are better left
unheard “- Kylie Jenner. G-Easy was said to have taken the limelight away from
Jordan as he was “real”. Many were disappointed and outraged, some of the crowd
were even booing just a couple minutes into the performance. Considering Jordan
was the closing act of the show did not help the artist either. After
interviewing Jordan after the show we asked what he thought of the crowd booing
and if it affected him. His response was actually due to the fact “the mic
wasn’t working” kme’s technical support team then looked into the sound checks
and confirmed everything was working correctly. Before the set
had even wrapped, fans on social media began slating the hit-maker for failing
to sing live. This lie then spread onto twitter exploding with tweets with
#simonsayslies followed with jokes about his horrendous attempt to mime the
words and even comments on his dancing and rational outfit choice. Clearly the
'distract them with flashy dance moves' strategy didn’t pan out how he'd
planned…However a large amount of the crowd were not affected by this act of performance as they described it as normal and was told to be a common thing for a singer to do in their career at least a few times. Plus it was also stated that because he was dancing it is normally hard for artists to dance and sing at the same time never mind remembering the choreography for where to stand etc.
This is not the first time Jordan pulls out the miming act. In January 17th his celebrity guest appearance on the late night show with Yasmin O’Donnell led to a cringe worthy performance which left audience not knowing where to look as he sang “yesterday night” from his latest album “Followers” not only was the words mimed but he had forgot his lyrics half way through and had to re sing the chorus while jokily playing it off to the crowd by laughing it off.
He may lip sync at times for the practical reason. After all, live singing won't do anyone much good if we can't actually hear him. Either way, Jordan has amazing stage presence and is a top-notch performer — so I can't wait to see him onstage at the Skyland Awards. Even he chooses to lip sync, we can certainly still appreciate the fact that he puts on an energetic, impressive show I guess.
